Villanova, Pa.- Villanova head volleyball coach
Josh Steinbach and his staff have announced their fall 2021 schedule. Villanova will play 30 matches in the upcoming season with 13 of those being played at home in Jake Nevin Field House.
The Wildcats will open the season on Friday, August 27
th against 2018 and 2019 national champions Stanford at home. The following the day the Wildcats will host both Rider and Delaware to close out non-conference home play.
Villanova will spend the next three weekends playing in tournaments, first at Grand Canyon on Labor Day weekend. The Wildcats will take on Rider again to open the tournament then face Western Caroline the following day and wrap up the weekend by facing the host team on Sunday the 5
th.
On September 10
th and 11
th the Wildcats will travel to Boston for Northeastern's Tournament. Villanova will take on the Huskies on Friday afternoon and will face both Bryant and Harvard on Saturday.
Villanova will travel to Philadelphia for their final non-conference weekend. The Wildcats will take on Princeton and Temple, the host school, on the opening day of the tournament. The final game of the weekend will be against Penn who are led by former Villanova assistant coach Meredith Schamun.
The Wildcats will open BIG EAST play with six straight home matched. League play will kick off the final weekend of September and the Wildcats will host Marquette and DePaul. The following weekend Xavier and Butler come to Jake Nevin Field House and to close out the home stand Villanova will take on Georgetown and UConn.
Villanova will hit the road to face Butler and Xavier on October 15
th and 16
th respectively. The following weekend the Wildcats will take on the Providence Friars on Friday the 22
nd and travel to Omaha to take on Creighton on Sunday the 24
th.
On October 29
th and 30
th Villanova is back at home to host both Seton Hall and St. John's. The Wildcats and Hoyas will meet in DC for a midweek match on November 3
rd and then will travel to Storrs to take on UConn on Saturday the 6
th.
The final home stand of the season will open with Providence on Friday the 12
th and wrap up against Creighton on the 13
th. To close out the regular season Villanova will travel to DePaul and Marquette.
The BIG EAST Tournament will take place on November 26-27 with the location still to be announced by the conference office. The top four teams in the conference make the tournament with the winner getting an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
