Senior quarterback Chris Boden and redshirt freshman Brian White were both honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference for their play last Saturday in Villanova's thrilling 48-45 triple overtime win over Connecticut. Boden earned Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week distinction, while White was named the Conference's Rookie of the Week.
Boden was sensational in the win, completing 43-of-69 for a school record 444 yards and four touchdowns. The 43 completions establishes a new Atlantic 10 Conference mark, while the 444 yards passing rates as the seventh-best in Atlantic 10 Conference history. This is the sixth time that Boden has won this award and the first time this season. Boden, a native of San Clemente, Calif., has posted four, 400-yard passing games in his Villanova career including two this season.
White continues to impress in this his rookie season. In the win at Connecticut, White tallied a career-high 10 receptions for a career-best 91 yards a touchdown. The Hamilton, New Jersey native leads all Atlantic 10 freshmen in receptions (30) and receiving yards (348).
Villanova will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23 when the Wildcats host Northeastern at 1 p.m. Villanova is currently 4-3 overall and 3-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.
