Athlete Ally aims to create a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ athletes and allies across all athletic sports teams. Athlete Ally goal is to empower LGBTQIA+ student-athletes to be their authentic selves, along with educating allies and coaches on equality and supporting their LGBTQIA+ athletes.
Our Objectives
As the Villanova chapter of Athlete Ally, we aim to provide the athletic community with allyship training in order to teach others the importance of equality and provide athletes with visibility and support. Additionally, Athlete Ally wants to provide athletes with community events, fostering an inclusive environment as well as providing the space for athletes to express their support for the LGBTQIA+ community and to be true to themselves as people and athletes.
Our mission is to end the rampant heteronormative and transphobia in sport and to activate the athletic community to exercise their leadership to champion LGBTQIA+ equality.
