In last Saturday's 35-30 win over No. 12 Richmond, Villanova senior quarterback Chris Boden set the Atlantic 10 record for career touchdown passes with 79. Boden established the mark with 48 seconds remaining in the second quarter, when he connected with sophomore wide receiver Murle Sango on an 11-yard touchdown. The previous record was held by Rhode Island's Tom Ehrhardt who threw 78 scoring strikes from 1984-86.
Boden finished the afternoon 19-of-31 for 250 yards and two touchdowns. After two games in 1999, Boden is 46-of-76 for 554 yards and four touchdowns.
On Saturday, Sept. 18 against No. 2 Massachusetts, Boden will be making his 27th consecutive start. Boden has thrown a touchdown pass in 26-straight games and he has tossed three or more touchdowns in 12 of the 26 contests. During his Wildcat career, Boden has completed 620-of-1014 (61%) for 7,642 yards and 79 touchdowns. In addition, the San Clemente, Calif., native has thrown just 19 career interceptions.
