Villanova Names Rattay Assistant Football Coach

Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced the hiring of Dan Rattay as a member of the Wildcat coaching staff. Rattay will be in charge of coaching the Villanova cornerbacks.

Rattay comes to Villanova from Georgetown University where he was the defensive coordinator and defensive backfield coach from 2001-03. During his stint at Georgetown, the Hoyas improved in every major statistical category for three consecutive years as Georgetown moved into the Patriot League.

Prior to his tenure at Georgetown, Rattay was the defensive coordinator and defensive backfield coach at Johns Hopkins University from 1995-2001. In addition to coaching the 1996 and 1997 Centennial Conference Defensive Players of the Year, Rattay helped the 1996 Johns Hopkins defense rank No. 1 in the Centennial Conference in total defense and rushing defense.

Rattay began his coaching career at the University of Albany from 1991-92 as the team's defensive backfield coach, before making his first stop at Georgetown from 1993-94 as quarterbacks and wide receivers coach.

Rattay is a 1991 graduate of Susquehanna University where he earned a degree in Business Administration. In 1993, he graduated from the University of Albany with a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Psychology.
