Villanova's Reid Qualifies as Individual for NCAA Finals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Villanova freshman Sheila Reid placed 12th overall at the NCAA Regional Championship to qualify as an individual for the Division I NCAA finals on Monday, Nov. 19, in Terre Haute, Ind. Reid ran an impressive 20:37 over the 6k course on Lehigh's Goodman Campus to lead the Wildcats to an overall fifth place finish in a highly competitive Mid-Atlantic Region. Reid, along with fellow freshmen Ali Smith and Callie Hogan, earned All Mid-Atlantic Region honors for their outstanding performances.

Reid's tremendous effort resulted in her being the first runner to cross the finish line for Villanova. She was followed by a trio of classmates, which included Smith, Hogan, and freshman Amanda Marino. Smith marked the second Wildcat to finish the race with a time of 20:53 placing her 20th overall, followed by Hogan clinching the 24th spot in 20:59, and Marino placing 30th in 21:17. Senior Akilah Vargas rounded out Villanova's top-five finishing 33rd overall in 21:23.
