VILLANOVA, Pa. - The men's track and field squad continued working hard in the outdoor season over the weekend as some competed at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., while other attended the University of Penn Invitational.
The Wildcats had several BIG EAST qualifying marks, as well some NCAA qualifying marks.
Senior Patrick Gazzini ran 52.06 in the 400m hurdles, obtaining an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark. This was a lifetime best for Gazzini by just over .5 of a second. Gazzini was sixth overall in the standing, but the third place collegiate runner in the event.
Senior Marco Radocaj hit a regional qualifying mark in the javelin with a throw of 61.78. This was only Radocaj's second meet since finishing with the football team earlier in the season.
Junior Elliot Whaley qualified to the BIG EAST Championships, running a personal-best 53.5 in the 400m hurdles, while freshman Stefan Goodridge finished in 53.82, also a conference qualifying time.
Senior Kevin Okolie crossed the finish line in 10.65 in the 100m to qualify to the BIG EAST.
Sophomore Garrett Kroner hit a conference qualifying mark in the 400m, finishing in 48.7.
Competing at the Penn Invitational, junior Daniel Tully qualified to the BIG EAST Championships in the 800m with a 1:53.60.
Junior Austin Casey earned two conference marks. Casey finished the 100m in 11.07 and the 200m in 22.15 to earn a spot at the BIG EAST Championships. Michael Lynch also qualified in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 22.17.
Freshman Robert Sainvil earned a BIG EAST mark in the triple jump, jumping 14.13m.
