TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Michael Kerrigan (Stroudsburg, Pa.) crossed fifth in the finals of the 1500 meter run on Saturday at the NCAA East Regional, hosted by Florida State University at the Mike Long Track. Kerrigan posted a time of 3:52.03 and qualified for next month's national championship race while earning four team points with his performance.
Freshman Carl Mackenzie (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) also ran in the finals on Saturday and came in 11th with a time of 3:53.98, coming just over a second short of advancing to the national championship.
Sophomore Dan Lewis (Staten Island, N.Y.) raced in the 3000 meter steeplechase and finished 12th out of 31 runners with a time of 9:10.69.
The Wildcats also had junior Elvis Lewis (West Hempstead, N.Y.) in competition in the finals of the 400 meter dash, but Lewis pulled up with an injury during the race. He won Friday's preliminaries in the event with a time of 46.15.
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Des Moines, Iowa from June 11-14.
