Villanova senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Ambler, Pa.) has been named a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He becomes the 27th player in Wildcat football history to garner first team All-American accolades.

This is the second All-American honor for Kpassagnon. Last week, he garnered first team All-American acclaim from the Associated Press.

In 13 games this past season, Kpassagnon led the CAA and ranked in the top 15 in both quarterback sacks (11) and tackles for loss (21.5). He also tallied 45 total tackles, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and a blocked kick. He finished the season with at least one sack in nine of the 13 games.

Kpassagnon anchored a Villanova defense that led all of FCS football in both total defense (259.8 ypg) and scoring defense (15.0 ppg.) and ranks fourth in rushing defense at 87.6 yards per game.

In addition to being named the 2016 CAA Defensive Player of the Year, Kpassagnon was selected to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on January 28, 2017.

Kpassagnon and the Wildcats went 9-4 this past season and earned a bid to the NCAA FCS playoffs where they advanced to the second round.
