RICHMOND, Va. - Villanova University junior safety Rob Rolle (Newfield, N.J./ Delsea H.S.) has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week. Rolle earns the honor for his play in Saturday's 40-21 win over the Towson Tigers.

In the victory, Rolle tallied nine total tackles (5 solo/ 4 assisted) to go with a school record 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. The previous mark was a 96-yard return by Chris Yurkow versus Holy Cross on Nov. 15, 1980.

Rolle has two touchdowns to his credit this year. In addition to the interception return, he also returned a fumble for a score in the season opener at Pittsburgh.

After three games in 2016, Rolle ranks third on the team in tackles with 23.

The Wildcats, who are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in CAA play, return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24, with a game at Lafayette. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
