Villanova (6-8, 1-4) fell to its second ranked opponent in a row on Sunday, losing 2-1 to No. 24 Fairfield (12-2, 3-0) in overtime.

The match between the Stags and Wildcats in the pouring rain was a defensive battle from beginning to end.

Fairfield got on the board first, scoring in the 14
th minute of play.

While both teams had opportunities, the scored remained 1-0 until there was less than 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Emma McLaughlin, scored the equalizer.

Statistic-wise the match was evenly matched.
