Villanova Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2020 Schedule

Villanova, Pa.- Villanova head coach Mike Corrado and his staff have announced their 2020 schedule on Monday afternoon.  This year the Wildcats will play eight games inside Villanova Stadium and hit the road for six matchups. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Wildcats will have their sights set on the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Championship slated to begin on Thursday, April 30th for the beginning of the 2019 postseason. The BIG EAST Tournament will be at Providence College.   

The Wildcats will start their season at home against three team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2019.  Villanova will open the season on Feb. 8th with Penn State and the following Saturday will host Yale.  Both games are schedule to faceoff at 1:00 P.M.  Maryland will wrap up the Wildcats three-game home stretch on Tues. Feb. 18th with game time scheduled for 4:00 P.M. 

Villanova will then hit the road for four straight, starting at Hofstra on Feb. 22 followed by Delaware on the 29th.  The Wildcats will take part in the Philly 4 Lacrosse Classic for the second straight season.  On Friday, March 6th Villanova will take on Penn at Franklin Field and will close out the Classic taking on Drexel on Sunday, March 8th at Sweeney Field. 
Following an off week, the Wildcats will host Fairfield on March 21st at 12:00 P.M. and then the Brown Bears Tuesday, March 24th at 3:00 P.M to wrap up non-conference play.

The Wildcats will travel to Marquette to open BIG EAST play on March 28th and then will host Denver April 4th followed by Georgetown on April 11th.  Villanova will play their final road game at St. John's on April 18th and will wrap up the regular season on April 25th against Providence for Senior Day. 

Providence will host the 20202 BIG EAST Tournament with the semifinals scheduled on April 30th and the championship game on May 2nd. The winner claims the all-important NCAA automatic bid. 

Last season the Wildcats finished 8-7 overall and 3-2 in BIG EAST play.  Villanova defeated #1 ranked Yale in the second game of the season, the programs first win over a #1 ranked team.  This victory also marked the 100th for head coach Mike Corrado.  The Wildcats also picked up a BIG EAST win at Denver in the regular season.  This was Denver's first loss in conference play since joining the BIG EAST five years ago.  Villanova qualified for their eighth straight conference tournament in 2019 and return over 87% of their offense from a season ago.
