Head Coach
Bridget Orchard on the team's performance this weekend, "I am really proud of the team and the way they got after it this first weekend. They were able to bounce back and picked each other up all weekend. We saw a lot of good things from so many different people." She continued, "We are learning a lot and getting better every game. It was a total team effort. We are excited to get back to practice and get ready for next weekend at Auburn."
In the first inning, the Wildcats had two outs and no one on when
Caroline Jones launched a home run to left center. They weren't done as
Ryan Henry hit a two run double to right center that scored
Delaney Switzer and
Julia DaCosta to make it 3-0.
Bethune-Cookman answered back in the second inning as they got a solo home run off of
Paige Rauch, but it is the only run they would get.
Angela Giampolo came up clutch in the fourth inning with a two-run single that scored
Megan Ruiz and
Olivia LaQua to put Villanova up 5-1.
Jordan Olivarez then ripped a single up the middle in the sixth inning to make it a 6-1 game.
LaQua broke the game wide open in the top half of the seventh as she hit her first home run on the season that also brought in Switzer.
