RICHMOND, VA. – The CAA Football Conference today announced its weekly football awards and Villanova quarterback Connor Watkins (Williamsport, Pa.) was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week. He shares the honor with Delaware running back Marcus Yarns.
Watkins earns the honor for his play in Villanova's 48-13 win over Stony Brook. In the victory, Watkins completed 13-of-19 for a career-high 361 yards and four touchdowns to go with 34 yards rushing. He threw for 291 yards in the first half, including touchdown throws of 43, 20 and 76 yards, and he added a 24-yard scoring strike in the third quarter.
After eight games this season, Watkins has completed 87-of-154 for 1,624 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. He currently leads all of FCS Football with an 18.7 yards per completion mark.
Watkins and the No. 17 ranked Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, with a road game at New Hampshire. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
