HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Villanova golf ended round two at the BIG EAST Championship in fifth place with three individuals in the top 15, totaling a two-day team score of 581 at Riverton Pointe.
The Wildcats are eight strokes back of first-place Marquette but only one back from Connecticut, who ranks in the fourth position.
Peter Weaver kept himself in the top five with an even-par 72 on Saturday, shooting a three-under with three straight birdies on the back nine. The junior ended day two tied for fourth in the field with a two-round performance of three-under and the conference's second best total on par 3s.
Ryan Pamer moved into the top 15 on the leaderboard with a three-under 69 round to bring himself to even-par over the two days. The top-ranked freshman in the BIG EAST put up five birdies on Saturday to tie for the fifth-highest two-day total in the conference.
Jason Lohwater kept up his steady performance with a 71 on the day to tie with Pamer for 13th, totaling three birdies and just two holes over-par to keep himself the event's leader in pars at 28.
Vimal Alokam once again impressed on the front nine with a one-over, and finished the round at 78 to give VU its fourth qualifying score.
Luke Alexander rounded out the Villanova lineup with an 84 on his first day of competition in South Carolina.
The final round at this year's BIG EAST Championship will take place on Sunday, with action split between the first and 10th tees.
