LEXINGTON, Va. – Villanova improved to 2-1 in MAAC play with split on Sunday. The Wildcats fell 10-9 to No. 25 Marist then bounced back and defeated Iona 10-7.
Against Marist,
Stella Byles led the way with a hat trick. The Wildcats could not convert on chances as 23 shots were fired on goal.
Gracin Kerry made eight saves in the loss.
It was a complete team effort against Iona as four Wildcats converted two goals. Villanova was able to convert their scoring opportunities in the afternoon cap and the defense was impressive racking up five steals.
Abigail Shelby picked up seven saves in the victory.
The Wildcats will look to build on this momentum next week when MAAC play rolls on in New York.
