Villanova Takes Down Nichols College

MEDIA, Pa. – The Villanova University men's tennis team swept Nichols College, 7-0, on Wednesday (March 12) at Springton Tennis and Racquet. It is the Wildcats' second sweep of the season.
 
In doubles play, top-flighted Will Monahan and Justin Frattarelli defeated Caio Dieckmann and Richard Hartmann, 6-2. Then, Villanova's third flight, Kush Anand and Thomas Wakefield, beat Leon Zeis and Mason Harris, 6-2, securing the doubles point for the Wildcats. To wrap up doubles competition, Cooper Gordon and Trey Fourticq took down Rodolfo Hernandez and Jose Nunez, 6-2.
 
In singles, Villanova took all six matches in straight sets. The 'Cats win was highlighted by Fourticq's 6-1, 6-0 win over Nunez. Additionally, first-year Cameron Kruep defeated Joshua Alcaron in the sixth flight, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Up next, the Wildcats open their conference season at home against Butler on Friday (March 14) at 1 p.m. at the Villanova Tennis Complex. In addition to being Villanova's first BIG EAST match on the schedule, it is also VU's first outdoor home match of the season.
