ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Villanova Men's Golf finished their time down in Georgia on Saturday, placing fourth in The People's Championship. The Wildcats shot their highest round, shooting 293 (+9), but it did not push them very far down the leaderboard.
The Wildcats finished behind UNC Greensboro, who won the event at 21 under, Davidson, and Big 5 foe Drexel. Drue Nicholas from the Dragons also won the individual portion of the event. As a team, the 'Cats shot 855 (+3) over the three day tournament.
Villanova finished second among all teams with 52 birdies, just behind the champions, UNCG.
Vibhav Alokam recorded his first top 10 finish of his collegiate career, placing tied for sixth at 209 (-4).
Alokam matched his day two score at 70 (-1). He shot one over on the front nine, bogeying hole four and not recording anything less than a par. On the back nine, the freshman shot 34 (-2) and tallied four birdies. He led the entire field, shooting seven under across all par four holes, averaging 3.74 strokes per hole.
Matt Zerfass recorded a stellar front nine as he competed to stay in the top 10 on day three. He shot 36 (+1) on the front nine but was unable to keep the pace down the stretch as he bogeyed three of his last four on the back nine. Zerfass shot 75 (+4) in the final round to come out to 213 (E) for the event. He placed 14
th overall, marking his third top 20 finish on the season.
Gus Vickers had a day of redemption on the links in the final round. After going down 30 spots on the individual leaderboard on day two, the graduate student shot 34 (-1) on the front nine, birdying three of his first five holes. He finished at 72 (+1) and 216 (+3), good for tied for 29
th, his second highest final placement of the season. Vickers placed tied for fifth in the event with four birdies.
Ryan Pamer carded five over 76 on day three, moving him to 217 (+4) on the event. He placed tied for 39
th. He and Vickers maintained their hot streak on par five holes, as the pair combined to shoot nine under, with Pamer at five under, during the event.
Joshua Lavely placed 111
th playing as an individual in this event. He shot 75 (+4) on day three, matching his day two score, and finished at 232 (+19).
Ian Love shot 78 (+7) on day three, including shooting even on eight of his first nine holes. In his first appearance since the Georgetown Intercollegiate, the sophomore finished in 114
th, at 235 (+22).

Golf will be heading down to Williamsburg, Va., next Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25, to take part in the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate hosted by The College of William & Mary.
