Villanova Seeks New Director of Athletics

Villanova University invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Athletics. Villanova is a comprehensive Catholic and Augustinian Liberal Arts University. The University enrolls 6,150 full time undergraduates, 725 in law, and students in extensive graduate and part time studies programs. Located 12 miles west of Philadelphia, Villanova consistently ranks as one of the premiere regional institutions in the eastern United States, while drawing from a national and international pool of applicants.

Reporting to the University President, the Director of Athletics is responsible for the general oversight and management of 24 men's and women's varsity sports programs. Responsibilities as the senior executive for the Athletics Department include establishing departmental program missions and strategies, oversight of the planning and administration of the department's budget, supervision of six associate and assistant athletic directors, supervising the Block V fund-raising program, facilities management and other program managers. The Director of Athletics will also oversee all sports information programming, event scheduling, intramural programs and compliance management.

The University seeks an individual who has the integrity, commitment and dedication necessary to maintaining excellence at Villanova University. A minimum of a Master's degree in athletic administration or a related field is required, acceptable experience may substitute for the degree requirement. Candidates will present at least 10 years of progressively responsible athletics administration and/or head coaching experience at the collegiate level to include involvement in budget management, marketing and fund raising and compliance administration. The successful candidate must also maintain a departmental commitment to compliance with applicable institutional conference and NCAA rules and regulations, as well as Title IX and affirmative action/equal opportunity guidelines. Candidates will be articulate in verbal and written communications, and will demonstrate through prior experience a commitment to academic achievement and personal development of student-athletes.
