DeFilippo Announces Staff Changes
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University Athletic Director Gene
DeFilippo announced today that he has restructured several
administrative areas of the Athletic Department, after the retirement of
Senior Associate Athletic Director John Bostic. After serving on
DeFilippo's staff for four years, Bostick announced in early May that he
would retire, effective June 1, 1997.
Associate Athletic Director for External Operations Tim Hofferth has
been elevated to the Senior Associate position, but will continue to
focus on the Wildcats' revenue enhancement efforts. Hofferth, who has
spent four years on the Main Line, will continue to oversee Villanova's
marketing, promotion and corporate sponsorship programs. Under his
direction, Villanova has grossed $12 million over the past three years.
David White, a five-year member of the Wildcat administration and
Villanova's former associate head football coach for nine years, will
retain his Associate Athletic Director title, but will assume additional
responsibilities. In addition to continued supervision of captial
projects and all of Villanova's facilities, White will serve as
day-to-day adminstrator for 14 varsity sports teams. He will also head
up the game management effort for football and men's basketball.
Vince Nicastro, former Director of Ticket Operations, has been
promoted to Assistant Athletic Director status. Nicastro will also
serve as coaches' contact for nine varsity sports teams. Nicastro will
also have invovlvement in day-to-day facility managment. Taking over
for Nicastro in the ticket office will be Justin Sell, formerly
Villanova's Intramural Director.
In addition, DeFilippo has made serveral other changes as well.
Allen Gibson moves from his Assistant Director of Tickets position into
the role of Intramural Director, while Mark Fink is elevated from intern
to Assistant Director of Tickets.
"We have a terrific staff at Villanova," DeFilippo said. "I feel
that it is in the best interest of the Athletic Department to promote
from within, and give these staff members added responsibilities."
