Ed Pretre will enter his second season as an assistant coach to the Wildcat Men's and Women's swim team in 2018-19.
In his second season at Villanova he helped the women's team to their sixth straight BIG EAST Championship title. He also received the BIG EAST Women's Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year honor alongside Head Coach Rick Simpson for the second straight year.
Pretre comes to Villanova from Truman State University where he served as head coach from 2011-2017. He was named Coach of the Year by the New South Conference and in 2016 by the Great Lakes Valley Conference after upsetting then Women's National Champions, Drury, in route to the school's first conference title.
He has also had the opportunity to coach two BIG EAST Champions in Kasey Kesses (100 fly) and Shana Longacre (100 breast) during his stint as an assistant coach at Rutgers University. While coaching Longacre, she swam in the NCAA Championships where she earned honorable mention All-America Honors by finishing 15th place in the 100 breaststroke.
Pretre is a 1997 graduate of West Virginia University where he was a letter winner in swimming and also received a Master's in Special Education from New Jersey City University.
