Nicole McMullen

In her first year at Villanova in 2019-20, Nicole McMullen is the Director of Operations on the track & field and cross country staff.  She is involved with all daily aspects of the men’s and women’s programs and serves as a liaison to other offices in the Athletic Department. 
 
McMullen is a former collegiate sprinter at Saint Joseph’s who has gone on to a successful career as a coach and administrator in the high school and collegiate ranks.  She comes to the Wildcats from Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford, Pa. where she was most recently the Athletic Director from August 2015 to May 2019. 
 
During her four years as the athletic director, McMullen administered all aspects of the school’s athletic program consisting of over 400 athletes and 50 coaches across 19 varsity sports.  She managed scheduling, transportation, budget and PIAA compliance in addition to overseeing all of the high school’s indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.  McMullen’s responsibilities included supervision of the Athletic Booster Club and fundraising efforts.  One of McMullen’s areas of emphasis at Pope John Paul II was to create an improved protocol for student recognition, and she also worked with the enrollment office and coaching staffs to engage CYO student-athletes. 
 
McMullen started her tenure at Pope John Paul II in 2013 as an assistant track & field coach and shortly thereafter as an Assistant to the Vice Principal of Student Affairs.  In this role she worked with the athletic office and the guidance office while also planning special events, including graduation.  McMullen assisted with scheduling, transportation and inventory in athletics and aided the guidance office with college transcript requests and data entry.  She also worked to create an official school handbook and for club moderator’s and coaches to use in their respective areas.
 
Following the end of her collegiate career, McMullen was the Athletic Facility Supervisor at Saint Joseph’s from 2010-15 and during that time also held assistant coaching positions with the Hawks and at Bryn Mawr College.  She coached the sprinters and jumpers at Bryn Mawr from 2014-16 while also assisting with team workout plans throughout the year and handling communication with incoming freshmen. 
 
McMullen’s first coaching experience came at Saint Joseph’s from 2010-13 where she also worked with the sprinters and jumpers during daily practices and in competitions.  Her role included film analysis and conducting technical practice for the jumpers and assisting with recruitment and official visits.
 
During her own athletic career, McMullen was a team captain as a senior at Saint Joseph’s.  She competed individually in the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the long jump while also running on the Hawks 4x400 meter relay squad.  McMullen broke school indoor records in the 200 meters and the 300 meters, tied the outdoor mark in the 200 meters and was a part of relay squads which set outdoor records in the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 relay.
 
McMullen is a 2010 graduate of Saint Joseph’s with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, and she also earned a Master of Science in Art Education from Saint Joseph’s in 2013.  She holds a PA State Instructional Level I Teaching Certification and a USATF Level I Certification.
