Rob Mida enters his second season at the helm of the women’s water polo team during the 2017-2018 season after being hired in August 2016. Mida has been with the program the last five seasons; two as an assistant and was a volunteer coach for the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons.
Under his watch as an assistant, the Wildcats have a combined 35-34 record and landed four student-athletes on ALL-MAAC Teams, including 2015-2016 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Julie Conrath.
Mida graduated from the Villanova School of Business in 2007, and was a two-time All-American on the club water polo team. He earned first team all-conference honors his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons and was Villanova’s Most Valuable Player in 2006. The club team qualified for two national tournaments in his four years, and finished in the top-10 nationally both times.
The Beverly Hills, Michigan native has previous head coaching experience as a former head coach of the Wissahickon High School boys and girls water polo team, and is currently the head coach of the boys William Penn Charter School water polo team in Philadelphia.
Mida continued to play the sport after college for Greater Philadelphia Water Polo, a team he still competes for when he can.
In June of 2010, Mida needed an emergency liver transplant due to a genetic issue. The procedure was life-threatening, but he has made a full recovery since.
Mida currently resides in Mt. Airy, Pa.
