DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Tonya Washington scored 18 points, including the game-winning basket with 1:22 left, and No. 13 Florida rallied for a 52-49 win over Villanova Sunday in the consolation game of the Duke Women's Basketball Classic.
Tamara Stocks added 17 points for Florida (6-2).Villanova jumped out to an early 16-4 lead and still led 49-40 with 5:13 to play. But the Wildcats gave up six points on steals in the final minutes, missed their last five shots and went scoreless in their last nine possessions.Brandi Barnes scored 12 points to lead Villanova (2-3).Florida battled back from the early deficit, leading briefly at 22-20. But the Gators missed their last seven shots of the half and Villanova closed with a 6-0 run.Villanova made eight of its first 13 shots of the second half and led 45-34 after Stephanie Baker's layup with 10:10 to play. But the Wildcats collapsed under intense Florida pressure, missing nine of their last 11 shots and committing eight turnovers in the final 10 minutes.Washington scored six points during Florida's decisive 12-0 run down the stretch.
