Villanova, Pa.--- In their first home match of the spring, the Villanova men's tennis team fell to the visiting Mountain Hawks of Lehigh University 1-4 on Wednesday, March 23. With the loss, the Wildcats fall back to the .500 mark making them 6-6 on the year.
Lehigh came into the match with a 5-3 record, looking to put another dent in the loss column for Villanova. The Mountain Hawks were victorious , making a clean sweep in singles action. Two of the six singles matches were not completed, though, due to darkness on the outside courts. At the No. 1 singles position, Robert Waibel (VU) and Cameron Taylor (LU) were on their way to finishing the third set (6-4, 5-7, 2-1) when the match was called off.
In doubles competition, Villanova's Stephen Smith and Ramon Prats defeated the Mountain Hawks duo of Josh Kritzler and Jeff Sternberg 8-5 at the second doubles spot. At third doubles, A.J. Rohde and Josh Schofield (VU) setback Jason Jacobs and Gary Drozdowski (LU) winning 8-6.
The team resumes play on Thursday, March 25 at 3:30pm when they take on the LaSalle University Explorers in Philadelphia.
