In the Murphy Cup, hosted by Temple University, the Villanova women's crew team took four of the seven events as the team continues to gear-up to defend their lightweight eight national title. In the lightweight eight event, Villanova defeated Bucknell and Lafayette with a time 7:18.70, while Villanova's varsity eight, second varsity eight and novice eight each took their respective races.
"Our season has had its ups and downs," said head coach Jack St. Clair. "But today shows me that we're heading in the right direction as we get ready for the Dad Vails and we keep making strides towards that big event."
On the following day, Villanova squared off against Wisconsin and Princeton at Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J. The Wildcats won the varsity eight with a time of 7:17.09 and finished third in both the novice eight and mixed four.
