Villanova linebacker Jason McMillion made his first collegiate start a memorable one, as he was named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for his play at Richmond. McMillion, a redshirt freshman from Apopka, Fla., started at middle linebacker in place of the injured David Heckard. In the win over No. 12 Richmond, McMillion tallied seven tackles, a quarterback sack and a tackle for loss. McMillion also ended a Richmond drive when he stopped Spider quarterback Jimmie Miles on fourth and one from the Villanova three-yard line.
After two games, McMillion has registered 14 tackles, a quarterback sack and two tackles for loss.
McMillion and the Wildcats open the home portion of their schedule this week when they host the No. 2 ranked and the defending National Champion Massachusetts Minutemen. Villanova enters play this Saturday ranked No. 21 in the country.
