VILLANOVA, Pa.--The Villanova men's cross country team ran to a second place finish at the LaSalle Invitational held at the Belmont Plateau on Saturday, Sept. 30. The University of Pennsylvania won the meet with 27 points followed by Villanova with 37, LaSalle with 78, Marquette with 99 and West Chester with 118.
Villanova's Tom Parlapiano (Honeybrook, Pa.) garnered individual honors, winning the race in 24:57. Pennsylvania's Brian Kovalsky placed second in a time of 25:09. Sophomore Jon Fasulo (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) was Villanova's second man, finishing sixth in 25:34, while freshman Ryan Hayden was seventh in a clocking of 25:35. Rounding out Villanova's top five were junior Ben Showers (West Chester, Pa.) who was ninth with a time of 25:40 and sophomore Tim Styler (Cranford, N.J.) who crossed the line in 25:59 to earn a 14th place effort.
The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they participate in the Paul Short Invitational held at Lehigh University.
