Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced the signing of Jennifer Hilgenberg to a national letter of intent. Hilgenberg, a 5-10 guard/forward from Flemington, N.J., will enroll at Villanova in the fall of 2001 and will be a member of the 2001-2002 Wildcat squad.
Hilgenberg attends Immaculata High School in Somerville, N.J. As a junior last year, Hilgenberg averaged 18.6 ppg., 9.2 rpg., and 4.2 apg., and led Somerville to a 23-1 record. For her efforts last season, she was named first team All-Conference, first team All-Area by the Home News and Tribune and first team All-State Parochial by the Newark Star Ledger. Also, last season, Hilgenberg became the only junior boy or girl in Immaculata school history to score 1,000 career points and she enters this season just 347 points short of becoming the school's all-time leading scorer for both boys and girls.
"We are very excited to have Jen join our program. She is a perfect fit for our team," said Perretta. "Jen is a very good athlete who has a great understanding of the game. She has the potential to be a very good player for us."
