Villanova University senior center Brandi Barnes has been named Big East Player of the Week. Barnes earns the honor for her efforts in Villanova's 61-52 win over Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Dec. 12. In the win, Barnes tallied her first double of the season and the seventh of her career with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 11 rebounds.
With Villanova trailing 39-38 with 7:36 left in regulation, Barnes led the Wildcats on a 10-0 run to give Villanova a 48-39 advantage with 4:09 left to play. In the run, Barnes tallied seven of her team's 10 points including making three consecutive field goals.
For the year, Barnes has started eight of Villanova's nine games and is averaging a team-best 12.4 ppg., and a team-high 5.8 rpg. From the field, she has made 49-of-102 for 48 percent.
