VILLANOVA, PA.--- On Wednesday, Dec. 6, Villanova women's basketball sophomore guard Trish Juhline (Havertown, Pa./ Cardinal O'Hara) was named inaugural Big Five Player of the Week for the 2000-01 season. Last season, Juhline was named the Big Five Rookie of the Year following a stellar freshman campaign that saw her score 13.1 points per game and hit 66 three-pointers.
This past week, Juhline led the Wildcats to a 2-0 record in the Big Five, with wins over La Salle and Temple. On Tuesday, Nov. 28, she scored 14 points and added three rebounds in a 70-56 victory over the Explorers. Against Temple on Saturday, Dec. 2, Juhline posted 17 points and four rebounds in a 60-55 win over the Owls, giving head coach Harry Perretta his 400th coaching victory.
Villanova is off to its best start (5-1) since the 1986-87 season. Juhline has been the offensive catalyst for the Wildcats with 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Villanova will get back into action on Wednesday, Dec. 6, traveling to South Bend, Ind., to take on the No. 4 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m.
