No. 24 Villanova Women Top Boston College, 71-56

BOSTON (AP) - Katie Davis scored a career-high 23 points and Mimi Riley had 13 as No. 24 Villanova beat Boston College 71-56 Saturday.

Brandi Barnes, the team's leading scorer at 14.4 points per game, was held to three points, but had 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (14-5, 5-3 Big East).

Villanova, which entered the week ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in 14 years, hit 11 of 21 3-pointers. Davis paced the way, going 4-for-7. Trish Juhline was 3-for-5.

Becky Gottstein led the Eagles (8-11, 2-6) with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Boston College has dropped six of its last seven games, all in the conference.

The Wildcats closed the first half with a 13-4 run and led 40-27 at the break. After a 6-0 run by the Eagles at the start of the second half, Villanova followed with an 11-0 run, pushing its lead to 53-37 with 11:05 to play.

The Wildcats' advantage never fell below double digits the rest of the way.
