Villanova Falls To No. 23 Boston College, 90-80

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP)- Troy Bell scored 28 points and Kenny Harley added a career-high 25 to lead No. 23 Boston College to a 90-80 victory over Villanova on Saturday.

Boston College (14-2, 5-1 Big East) hadn't won at Villanova since 1993 and is 2-13 overall at The Pavilion.

Michael Bradley had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Gary Buchanan added 18 points for Villanova (12-6, 4-3).

The Wildcats, coming off a 70-59 victory over No. 24 Connecticut on Wednesday, have lost four of six.

Boston College, off to its best start since opening the 1980-81 season 15-2, has won two straight and three of four.

Villanova took its first lead, 42-40, on a 3-pointer by Jermaine Medley just 1:19 into the second half.

After Harley gave the Eagles a 53-47 lead on two free throws, Medley took over, sparking a 15-4 run. He scored nine points during the spurt - all on three-pointers.

Medley capped the run with consecutive 3-pointers that made it 62-57 with 11:52 left in the game.

But Boston College answered by scoring 10 straight and 17 of the next 19 points. Ryan Sidney's layup gave the Eagles the lead for good, 64-62, with 9:33 left. He had seven points during the run, including a 3-pointer.

Bell nailed a 3-pointer, then made two free throws to make it 74-64 with 5:21 left. Villanova didn't get closer than eight the rest of the way.

Sidney finished with a career-high 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting and Bell made 5-of-8 3-pointers.

Before hitting four straight 3s, Medley was 0-for-3 from beyond the arc in the first half and 0-for-10 the previous two games. He had 17 points and was 5-for-13 from 3-point range.

Boston College took its biggest lead of the first half, 30-18, after a 15-4 run capped by an off-balance 3 by Harley.

Villanova went 6:35 without a field goal before Buchanan hit a 3-pointer with 5:53 left in the first half. The Wildcats had missed 16 straight from beyond the arc over the last two games.

Buchanan's 3-pointer ignited a 13-3 run as Villanova got back in the game. He hit a long 3 at the end of the first half to cut the deficit to 40-39.
