VILLANOVA, Pa. - Jason Fraser, one of the nation's most coveted high school basketball prospects, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Villanova, head coach Jay Wright announced today.

Fraser rose to prominence during the past few seasons at Amityville High School in New York. As a junior he averaged 21 points, 15 rebounds, eight blocks and six assists per game in leading Amityville to the New York State Class B championship.

"We are elated to have a student-athlete of Jason's caliber join our Villanova basketball family," stated Wright. "His competitiveness, shot-blocking, rebounding and scoring abilities are second to none.

"Jason has a strong family background as well as a great basketball foundation coming from the Amityville High School program. He is an outstanding student, impact player, and will be a great representative of Villanova University's values."

This is Villanova's fourth signing of the fall period. Earlier this month Wright announced the signings of 6-2 guard Allan Ray from St. Raymond's High School in the Bronx, N.Y., Curtis Sumpter, a 6-6 forward from Bishop Loughlin (N.Y.) High School, and Randy Foye, a 6-3 guard from Newark (N.J.) East Side High School.
