VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Ricky Wright scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Villanova to a 77-62 lead over St. John's in the Big East regular-season finale Sunday afternoon.
Derrick Snowden added 14 points, Gary Buchanan 11 and Andrew Sullivan 10 for Villanova (16-11, 7-9 Big East). Snowden led the Wildcats with six assists.
Anthony Glover led St. John's (19-10, 9-7) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Marcus Hatten, who has averaged 24.3 points in the last six games, was held to 13.
St. John's tied the game at 44-44 with 13:45 left, after a 10-4 run fueled by a pair of layups from Stanley and two from the line by Glover.
But Villanova launched a 7-0 run on Snowden's back-to-back driving layups to put Villanova up 51-46 with 10:55 remaining.
The Wildcats put the game away with a 14-2 run made up almost entirely of 12-for-12 foul shooting to take a 70-52 lead with 2:40 remaining. Villanova finished 20-for-25 from the line, compared with St. John's 11-for-16.
St. John's stayed close in the first half but failed to get a field goal in the final 4:52. Villanova led 58-46 at the break.
Villanova has won six straight against St. John's at home. St. John's leads the overall series 58-37.
