TOWSON, MD. - On Friday, Sept. 13, in Towson, Md., the Villanova women's soccer team defeated Towson University as senior midfielder Julie Battista scored the only goal necessary for the Wildcats and junior goalkeeper Chrissy Dolan posted her third shutout of the year in a 1-0 victory. With the win, the `Cats remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0-1. The Tigers fall to 1-3-1 on the year with Friday's loss.

Villanova and Towson managed a combined 11 first half shots, but neither the Wildcats nor the Tigers were able to find the net as the game went into the break scoreless.

With 8:20 remaining in the contest, the Villanova offense made its move. Sophomore defender Patricia Misciagna found Battista off of a corner kick and Battista beat Towson keeper Yasmin Alter to give the `Cats a 1-0 advantage. With Dolan in net, that was all Villanova would need as the Wildcats held on for a 1-0 victory.

Dolan saved three shots on the afternoon for Villanova and tallied her ninth career shutout. She lowered her already miniscule goals against average to 0.37.

Battista's goal was her first of the season for the `Cats, while Misciagna's assist was her second.

In goal for the Tigers, Aler took the loss despite saving five shots.

Villanova will get back into action on Sunday, Sept. 15, traveling to Annapolis, Md., to take on Navy at 1:00 p.m.
