Ray Leads Wildcats Past Redlands

REDLANDS, CALIF. - Allan Ray registered career-highs in points with 38 and rebounds with 11, leading Villanova (2-0) past Division III Redlands (0-1), 114-103 at Currier Gymnasium. For the second consecutive game, the Wildcats shot over 60 percent from the field.

The game was played at a frenetic pace in front of a standing-room only crowd, as the host Bulldogs held a one-point halftime advantage. After the game was tied at 78 with just under 10 minutes to go, the 'Cats took control.

Ray's 38 points were a game-high. Classmate Randy Foye added 25 to go along with 10 rebounds. 'Nova's other double digit scorers were a pair of freshman - guard Mike Nardi (19 points, 13 assists) and forward Will Sheridan (23 points, 17 rebounds).

The Bulldogs were led by Derek Flagal's 26 points, with included 6-for-12 from three-point range. For the afternoon, Redlands made 24 three-pointers in 64 attempts.

Villanova now travels to Hawaii for the EA Sports Maui Invitational. The 'Cats will play the tournament's host team, Chaminade, on Monday, Nov. 24.
