Fraser Is Cleared To Resume Action

Dec. 10, 2003

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Sophomore forward Jason Fraser received medical clearance to resume practicing with the men's basketball team today. Fraser was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left heel on Nov. 3 and missed Villanova's first seven games of the 2003-04 season.

Fraser was examined by Villanova team orthopedist Dr. Rob Good this morning and given the go-ahead to resume all basketball activities. This afternoon he participated in his first full workout with the squad since suffering the injury.

As a freshman, Fraser averaged 7.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game before being forced to the sidelines on Feb. 24 with a stress reaction in his left foot (an injury that is unrelated to his most recent injury.) He was subsequently cleared to return to duty on March 7 but sat out the final three games of the campaign for his role in the misuse of a university telephone access code. On April 9, Fraser underwent surgery on both his knees to alleviate tendonitis that plagued him throughout his freshman campaign.

Fraser is expected to be available for Friday evening's home date with Northeastern at the Pavilion.
