Snowden undergoes knee surgery

Aug. 29, 2003

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior guard Derrick Snowden (Baltimore, Md.) underwent successful surgery today to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The surgery was performed by Villanova team surgeon Dr. Rob Good at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

The prognosis for a full recovery is, according to Good, excellent. However, there is presently no timetable for Snowden's return to the basketball court.

"Our entire team and coaching staff feels so badly for 'Snow'," said Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "This is a young man who has dedicated himself to improving his game. He is our leader.

"There is no doubt this is a serious injury that involves a lengthy recuperation period. Dr. Good and (head trainer) Jeff Pierce will monitor Derrick's progress throughout the fall and we will evaluate the situation as we go along. I am confident that 'Snow' will dedicate himself totally to the rehabilitative process."
