VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Big East Conference today named Mike Nardi Rookie of the Week for his efforts in leading Villanova to recent victories over Boston College and St. John's. The honor is the first of its kind for Nardi, a 6-1 freshman from Linden, N.J.

Nardi established a career high with 24 points in a 92-89 win at Boston College on Jan. 14. He connected on 6-of-9 field goal attempts against the Eagles, including 4-of-4 from beyond the 3-point arc. In addition, he was 8-of-8 at the free throw line.

On Sunday, Nardi led the Wildcats to a 85-74 victory over St. John's. He tallied 24 points, eight assists and three steals in the win.

In the two games, Nardi was 12-of-19 (.632) from the field, 8-of-9 (.888) from 3-point territory, and 15-of-15 at the free throw line.

Villanova (10-5 overall, 2-1 Big East) travels to Providence to face the Friars on Wednesday night.
