VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova's annual basketball carnival, the 2004 Summer Jam, will bring together the past and present of Wildcat basketball on Aug. 2 at the Pavilion.
The third annual session gets underway at 4:00 p.m. in the Pavilion parking lot. Members of the 2004-05 editions of the men's and women's squads will be on hand along with both coaching staffs to interact with the Wildcat faithful. The Summer Jam offers fun for the whole family, including a disc jockey, interactive games, an all-you-can-eat barbecue, inflatable games and autograph sessions. There will also be prizes, raffle drawings and a photo booth where members of the 1985 NCAA champion Wildcats will be available to pose for pictures.
The carnival begins at 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. At 7:15 p.m., the action moves inside the Pavilion for a pair of alumni basketball games. The first features some of the Villanova's Legends who have worn the blue and white on the hardwood. Following that contest, Villanova's Pros will take the floor. Among those who participated in 2003 were Tim Thomas, Alvin Williams, Ed Pinckney and Dwayne McClain. Hall of Famer Paul Arizin and the head coach of the 1985 NCAA champions Rollie Massimino served as honorary coaches in 2003.
Fans can reserve a spot by telephoning the Villanova Ticket Office at (610) 519-4000. The cost is $5 per person and includes the carnival and both alumni games.
