The 2005-06 men's basketball schedule has been finalized with the addition of game times for nine contests and the completion of the season's television and radio broadcast schedule, the University announced today. The Wildcats will have a total of 12 regular season games shown on national television and six others carried on local broadcast affiliates. In addition, each regular season game will be carried on the radio on either the WNTP (990-AM) or WFIL (560-AM) stations.
Villanova will have nine regular season games shown on either ESPN or ESPN2 and will play three other games on CBS. The first national television date is a home tilt against Oklahoma at the Pavilion on December 3 at 5:00 p.m. The three CBS games will be on January 14 at Texas, February 26 at Connecticut and March 5 at Syracuse. Also, ESPN and ESPN2 will once again team to provide coverage of every game during the Big East Tournament. This year's conference tournament runs from March 8-11 at Madison Square Garden.
Nine of the 12 nationally televised games are against Big East opponents, including the conference opener at Louisville on January 5. In all, the Wildcats have guaranteed television coverage for 13 of their 16 conference games, while broadcasts for three remaining games are still pending.
Villanova will play six of its conference games against the five new teams to the Big East, including a home-and-home series with Louisville. In addition to the game in Louisville on January 5, the Wildcats will host the Cardinals at the Wachovia Center on January 30 in a "Big Monday" matchup on ESPN. Villanova will also host Marquette and go on the road to play Cincinnati, DePaul and the University of South Florida.
The 2005-06 men's basketball season kicks off with an exhibition game against West Chester on Sunday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. That game can be accessed online at www.villanova.com and live audio and video streaming will be available.
