PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its postseason awards on Tuesday, and seven different Wildcats were mentioned on the league's all-conference teams. Leading the way for Villanova were seniors Darrell Adams (Bayshore, N.Y.), Brian Hulea (Canfield, Ohio) and J.J. Outlaw (Columbia, Md.) on the first team. Junior Allyn Bacchus (Hampton, Va.) earned a spot on the second team, while senior Adam James (Marietta, Ga.) and juniors Rodney Badger (San Marcos, Calif.) and Christian Gaddis (North Miami Beach, Fla.) each garnered third team honors.
Adams and Hulea each were named on the All-Conference first team for the third straight year. A linebacker, Hulea became the school's all-time career tackle leader in his final game. He ends his career with 431 career tackles, surpassing the old mark of 429 set by Curtis Eller. This season, Hulea had an Atlantic 10 leading 135 tackles (59 solo, 76 assisted). He registered four tackles for total losses of 16 yards and 1.5 sacks for losses of two yards. Hulea also had two interceptions for 21 yards, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
Adams, a defensive end, played in 10 games this season and registered 40 tackles (18 solo, 22 assisted). He had 11.5 tackles for losses of 45 yards, one sack for 11 yards and two pass breakups. Adams ended his standout four-year career with a total of 163 tackles, including 40 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks.
Outlaw, a wide receiver, earned all-conference honors for the third time in his career and merited first team accolades for the second time. He was second on the team with 1347 all-purpose yards this season and was the team's leading receiver. Outlaw caught 83 passes for 878 yards and seven touchdowns and also carried the ball 27 times for 215 yards and one touchdown. He led the Atlantic 10 in receptions per game, ranked third in all-purpose yards per contest, was fourth in receiving yards per game and sixth in punt return yards per game.
Bacchus, a defensive back who has started every game in his career, ranked second on the team with 118 total tackles. He had a team-high 66 solo stops and also assisted on 52 tackles. He had 5.5 tackles for losses of 15 yards, one sack for eight yards, five pass breakups, one fumble recovery and three forced fumbles. The all-conference honors for Bacchus were the first of his career.
James also earned All-Conference honors for the first time after taking nearly all of the team's punts this season, totaling 47 overall. He averaged 40.1 yards per punt with 16 landing inside the opponent's 20-yard line. His performance this season included a career-best punt of 65 yards in a game against Rhode Island. James also converted 10-of-14 extra-point attempts and made good on 3-of-5 field goal tries.
Badger, a defensive back, had 42 tackles and a team-high three interceptions for the season to earn an all-conference selection for the first time. He had 22 solo and 20 assisted stops, and he returned the three interceptions for a total of 54 yards. His longest interception return was 34 yards, and he returned one interception for a touchdown. Badger also had a team-best eight pass break-ups.
Gaddis, an offensive lineman, was the team's starting center for the second straight season. He has made 22 consecutive starts overall and also plays the role of one the team's emotional leaders on the field. Gaddis helped the Wildcats average 23.4 points per game for the season and he earns All-Conference honors for the first time in his career.
