PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Villanova senior guard Randy Foye (Newark, N.J./East Side High School) was named co-Big East Player of the Week today for his efforts in helping lift the Wildcats to a pair of wins over Rider and No. 5 Oklahoma last week. Foye shares the honor with Quincy Douby of Rutgers. In addition, Foye was named the Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week.
Foye established a new career high with points in the 85-74 victory over the Sooners at the Pavilion on Saturday. The 6-4 guard connected on 14-of-21 field goal attempts, including several baskets late in the contest when Oklahoma had shaved the Wildcats' margin to five points. He is averaging 20.8 points and 4.3 rebounds on the season for the Wildcats.
"I think he is one of the best guards in the country," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright.
Villanova travels to face Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa., on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The game will be carried on the Villanova/ISP Radio Network (WNTP 990 AM) and is also available through ESPN 360 Broadband.
