VILLANOVA, Pa. - This Saturday afternoon's Big East game featuring No. 8 ranked Syracuse and No. 22 Villanova at the Wachovia Center is a sellout, the Villanova athletic department announced today. There will be no further ticket sales for this game.
This marks the third time a Villanova home game at the Wachovia Center has been a sellout. In 1996-97, the Wildcats sold out home games with Duke and Notre Dame at the Center. The largest crowd to witness the Wildcats play at the Center was on hand on Feb. 16, 1997 when the `Cats defeated the Fighting Irish 75-70 (19,372).
"We've very appreciative of this show of support by the Villanova faithful and the people of the greater Philadelphia region for our basketball program," stated director of athletics Vince Nicastro. "We're excited about what should be a great afternoon of Big East basketball."
Villanova owns a streak of 50 consecutive regular season sellouts at its on-campus home, the Pavilion.
The Wildcats (14-5 overall, 5-4 Big East) host the Orange (21-3 overall, 8-2 Big East) in Philadelphia at noon. The game will be televised locally by WB 17 and also air on WNTP Radio (990 AM).
