Sophomore guard Mike Nardi converted a career high six 3-point field goals in Villanova's 81-76 loss at No. 20 Connecticut on Wednesday evening. The native of Linden, N.J., ended the evening with a season-high 20 points.
Villanova returned to the top 25 poll for the first time since 1997 this week. The `Cats are ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press poll and No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today poll. This is VU's first appearance in the two polls since 1997.
Freshman guard Kyle Lowry continues to be a factor off the bench for the Wildcats. The rookie from Cardinal Dougherty High School delivered 12 points in 19 minutes at UConn.
This is the second meeting this season between the Friars and the Wildcats. Villanova pulled out an 83-78 victory in overtime on Jan. 11 at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
Following this game, the `Cats have less than 48 hours to prepare for the final Philadelphia Big Five game of the season against Saint Joseph's. The Hawks and `Cats meet Monday at the Palestra at 8:00 p.m. (ESPN2).
