Villanova, Pa. - Villanova senior guard Allan Ray (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's High School) was seen by an eye specialist on Saturday in Philadelphia. The examination confirmed the diagnosis made on Friday evening at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York that Ray suffered a soft tissue injury in the Big East semifinal against Pittsburgh and there was no damage to the (right) eye.

Ray has been cleared to resume non-contact basketball activities immediately. He is scheduled to be examined again on Monday by the eye specialist with the full anticipation that he will be cleared to practice without restrictions and play in games.

"On behalf of Allan, his family and our basketball family, I would like to thank everyone for the well-wishes and prayers Allan has received in the last 36 hours," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "Obviously Allan is very fortunate to have come through a potentially dangerous injury with these positive results."

Ray was injured early in the second half of Villanova's 68-54 loss to Pittsburgh in the Big East Tournament semifinal at Madison Square Garden. He is second on the Wildcats in scoring at 18.8 ppg and earlier this week was named first team All-Big East.
