VILLANOVA, Pa. - For the third time this season, Villanova freshman guard Scottie Reynolds (Herndon, Va./Herndon High School) is BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
Reynolds enjoyed a sensational week in helping the Wildcats to a pair of important BIG EAST Conference victories.
On Wednesday night he established a new school scoring record for a freshman, dropping in 40 points in a 78-74 win over Connecticut. It was the most points ever scored in Gampel Pavilion by an opponent and was one shy of the BIG EAST single game record for a rookie, set by Marco Lokar of Seton Hall in 1990.
Three days later, Reynolds scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half to help the Wildcats rally from a 10-point second half deficit to defeat Syracuse 78-75 before 18,403 at the Wachovia Center. Reynolds also added six assists and four steals while logging 40 minutes of action.
