Wildcats to meet DePaul in BIG EAST Tournament opener

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The brackets for the 2007 BIG EAST Tournament presented by Aeropostale are now set. Villanova (21-9 overall, 9-7 BIG EAST) is the No. 9 seed and meets No. 8 seed DePaul (18-12 overall, 9-7 BIG EAST) at noon on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden (ESPN). The winner of that game advances to face top seeded Georgetown (23-6 overall, 13-3 BIG EAST) on Thursday at noon in the quarterfinals (ESPN).

DePaul defeated Villanova 73-65 on Jan. 6 at the Pavilion in the only matchup between the two teams this season. Freshman Scottie Reynolds scored 25 points in the loss for the `Cats.

The Wildcats have advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals in each of the past three seasons. After earning a share of the BIG EAST regular season title in 2005-06, Villanova defeated Rutgers before falling to Pittsburgh 68-54 in the tournament semifinal.
