Sumpter, Reynolds and Nardi Honored by BIG EAST

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Three Villanova Wildcats were among those honored by the BIG EAST Conference today for their play during the 2006-07 men's basketball season.

Senior forward Curtis Sumpter was named first team All-BIG EAST. The graduate of Bishop Loughlin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) High School averaged 17.0 points and 7.3 rebounds this season for the Wildcats. In the season's final week he contributed consecutive double-doubles to help the Wildcats defeat Connecticut and Syracuse in critical conference battles.

Freshman guard Scottie Reynolds was named second team All-BIG EAST and was also named to the All-Rookie Team. He was one of only three unanimous choices to the All-Rookie squad. Reynolds averaged 18.4 ppg in 16 BIG EAST games this season, highlighted by a 40-point performance in a 78-74 win at Connecticut last week. The 6-2 guard also led Villanova in assists with 124 - 4.1 apg.

Senior guard Mike Nardi earned honorable mention All-BIG EAST accolades. The 6-2 native of Linden, N.J., averaged 12.8 ppg to go with 122 assists (4.1 apg) in 2006-07.

The BIG EAST will announce its player, coach and rookie of the year on Tuesday night.
